Rumor has it that Chipotle will be doing a Bogo for Teacher Appreciation Day May 7th!

Bean Update!

Our beans are taking off! They are huge!

I am so pleased they are growing so well! 

The students love watching their progress! 

The flowers we planted are also starting to sprout! 

We had a beautiful weekend! 

Dare I say-- I think spring is finally here! 

The temperature was actually in the 70s this weekend! It was wonderful!

Snow Day in April!

Good morning!

Well this morning started out as any other. I woke up, got ready and headed on the April snow covered roads to go to work. Luckily, I have e-mail on my phone and the little "banners" will let me know the subject of the e-mail just sent without me having to read it.
Ahh to my lovely surprise- I see NO SCHOOL TODAY! What- in April!
I will take it... Welcome to Minnesota!

Here is my what my deck looks like today... although a snow day is wonderful... I would sure like a sunny springtime deck instead!

I must say... I didn't think the seeds would take off with such drive! This is the first time I have done this- with bean seeds in a bag... 

Success! 

This is just over a week in the bag! 

Now it is time to move the newly sprouted seeds to our pots!

We will see if they last!
Fingers crossed... I hope they continue to grow!

TGIF! 

Well this was a trying week back after spring break! Mostly due to our weather... I can't believe a blizzard hit in April. But that's not too out of the ordinary for us I suppose. 

On a good note- our seeds are growing along at a nice rate! We already have some great little spouts! I think soaking them first was a good idea!

Snow in April

Well to my lovely surprise- It snowed last night, and is going to snow all weekend! What a great way to welcome April! I will laugh if we get a snow day Mid-April! Only in Minnesota!

Back From Spring Break!

Well, I just spent a wonderful week in Jamaica with my husband over spring break! He took me back to the place he proposed! It was a much needed week in the warmth and sunshine- away from this sleeting, raining, snowing, wet, gross Minnesota weather!! 

Now it's back to reality and we are at least pretending spring is coming soon in my classroom! 

We started a unit on plant life cycles Monday. I couldn't find any Lima Beans- so I picked up some regular green bean seeds instead.  We "planted" the seeds in our plastic bags and I hung them on a wall close to a window for sunlight. (I saw other teachers actually just taped it right to the window... but again going back to the great Minnesota weather... the seeds would freeze at night if I did that.)

I have a question: 

I heard that you should soak the seeds first? I did for about an hour- I wasn't sure if that was true or not? 

Wish our little seeds luck and I hope we see some sprouts soon!
